Help the bore cause for Yarrie Lake

A Fundraiser to help boost the case for a test bore to be drilled at Yarrie Lake will be held in Narrabri November 4.  The Yarrie Lake Flora and Fauna Trust, along with the Collins Park Lighting Committee, have formed the Yarrie Lake Bore Working Group and are looking for a long-term solution to help ensure the lake doesn't run dry.

That could involve drilling down to the artesian water, but to ensure there is a suitable supply, a test bore needs to be sunk first.

And for that, money is needed so that the group can seek grant funding from the three levels of government on a dollar-for-dollar basis.  All up, it could cost somewhere between $80,000 and $100,000.  

To that end, the group is holding a fundraising auction night and dinner at the Narrabri RSL Club on Saturday, November 4.

Bore Working Group member Russell Stewart said the groups were grateful for the generosity of local businesses and individuals in supporting the fundraiser. 

Two of the star attractions at the auction will be the boat pictured, donating by Kaputar Motors.

But there will be plenty of other items going under the hammer as well, including welders, toolboxes and return airline tickets to Sydney and Brisbane.

There would also be a raffle with some great prizes, which would be drawn at the Narrabri Chamber of Commerce Christmas Street carnival on Thursday, December 14.
